EURO 2012 is coming!
And here it is the outstanding Warsaw National Stadium where the matches will be held :
Located in Warsaw, Poland, The National stadium is mostly used for football matches. The stadium has a seating capacityof 58,500 which makes it the largest association football arena in Poland. The stadium is equipped with a heated pitch, training pitch, façade lighting, movable roof and an underground parking also is a multipurpose object providing organization of sports events, concerts, cultural events and also enables sales, conferences and gastronomic functions.
The National Stadium was designed by the JSK Architects Ltd. Consortium, GMP International GmbH and Schlaich Bergermann und Partner. The beginning of construction works was in October 2008. The completion of the investment was to take place in June 2011. During these works, various issues and technical problems that caused several months delay occurred.
The extraordinary square shape of the stadium refers to Polish National Color which resemble waving flag of Poland, consist of silver and red colors. These colors also used for stadium seats.
One of the most interesting fact is the reachable roof which are partially transparent. Resistant with the water, the roof is able was made of fiberglass covered with teflon. The process of opening or closing the roof takes about 20 minutes.
