So, I was browsing through articles and I found out about Signature Tower.

The owner of Artha Graha Network, Tomy Winata, has launch a project to construct one of the most tallest building in the world, the Signature Tower. Signature Tower will be constructed in an area of approximately 45 hectares in the middle of SCBD (Sudirman Central Business District) Jakarta. The construction of Signature Tower is to provide the increasing need of public and working spaces along with the growth of Indonesia's economy. It is a mixed-use building consisted of office and hotel with a total of 111 floors. Signature Tower is also hoped to be identical with the best business district in Indonesia, just like in Manhattan, America, with its Wall Street[1]

Signature Tower will have a height of 638 m and will be the fifth tallest building in the world after the Seoul Light DMC Tower (640 m), Ping An Finance Center (660 m), Burj Khalifa (828 m), and Kingdom  Tower (1 km)[2].  It will also beat the currently tallest building record in Jakarta, which is held by Wisma 46 Tower (262 m) Jakarta[3]

Tallest Building Comparison, Signature Tower is 5th [2]

The construction will cost around US$1 billion (Rp 9.2 trillion) and said to be started this year in July and finished before the year 2020. The construction will be constructed at where Automall now is (lot 6 of SCBD)[4]

  1. this building will defeat the height of Tokyo Skytree! First, I kinda confuse with some building that are taller than Tokyo Skytree because some articles said that Tokyo Skytree is the tallest building. It turns out that some of the buildings are still under construction. So, Tokyo Skytree still the tallest building in the world, so far. Anyway, nice article Jo!

Then, I wanna ask for your opinion Jo, what do you think with this "competition" height of the building in some city or country? Is it good? Or is it bad?

    Thank you :D

    1. hi octi thx for the comment:)

IMO, i think this "competition" is good because it save space you know. those tall building can accomodate a lot of people and they do not consume much space on the ground (of course it has to be sustainable too haha). Moreover, it will act as a signature and represent the development of a city.

So i think we should be proud to have such tower in Indonesia because it represent our country's development:)

  2. First of all, thank you for the information, jo. I think it is great that Indonesia can compete in the world ranks. In my opinion, this building could increase the popularity of indonesia in architectural. The unique and traditional architecture of the tower is really interesting. The base of the tower reminds me of temples. I hope this building could give a lot of good effects to the surroundings and Indonesia.

  3. This will be iconic to Indonesia, however my family's company didn't get a chance to do this project, due to the result from a designing competition. They didn't won, but my father and grandfather will be doing a review from a design and structural aspect.
